Due to the different functions of various parts in the automobile die, the requirements are also different for the material of the auto stamping mold parts. Therefore, the reasonable selection of die material is a very important work in the design of stamping die, it is not only related to the production cost, but will seriously affect the production.
The material used for the mold parts should be better than the other parts. Generally according to the different  use conditions of the mold, there are mainly four kinds of material:
1, Mould for simple shape and smaller size of stamping parts. Common carbon tool steel, such as T10A, T8A, etc..
2, Mold parts for the complicated shape and larger size of the stamping parts, often with alloy tool steel or high-speed tool steel, such as Cr12, Cr12MoV, CrWMn, W18Cr4V, W6MoSCr4V2, etc..
3, Mold parts with high accuracy and high life requirements for stamping parts, commonly used hard alloy or steel bonded carbide, such as YG15, GW50, YG20, etc..
4, Large dies (such as automobile panel stamping dies), common cast iron or cast steel, and some are surfacing reinforcement at the edge, such as gray cast iron HT250, cast steel 2G270-500, etc..
Mold parts material selection, in addition to working parts use the most important, the more prominent is guide post and the guide sleeve parts, generally used high quality carbon steel, low carbon steel carburizing and quenching or selection of bearing steel.
The material selection of the die working parts is the most important and strict, and it also includes the requirement of the heat treatment.
